Hog Market Higher at Midday

Lean hog futures are trading with some triple digit gains for Dec and Feb. the other front months are 55 cents to 77 cents higher. The Pork Cutout Futures (started trading this week) are so far in the black, near $82.15. The National Pork Carcass Cutout value was $3.43 higher in the AM report, to $86.57. Pork rib primals were down 66 cents cwt. but the other primal cuts were all stronger. USDA’s National Average Morning Base Hog price was reported at $60.79 after dropping back 40 cents. USDA’s FI hog slaughter for Wednesday is 459,000 head, with the WTD total at 1.445 million head. That is now down 30,000 head from last week but 15,000 head above last year.

Feb 21 Hogs are at $67.450, up $1.050
Apr 21 Hogs are at $70.875, up $0.775
Dec 20 Pork Cutout is at $82.150, up $1.175,
